Japanese: 脱落膜 - だつらくまく

During pregnancy, the mucous membrane of the uterus enlarges, grows, thickens, and becomes soft. This change begins with the implantation of the fertilized egg, and later some of it will contribute to the formation of the placenta. It is so named because it is shed after childbirth. The mucous membrane of the uterus undergoes similar changes according to the menstrual cycle, and the thickened mucous membrane at this time is called the menstrual decidua (pseudodecidua), while the original decidua is called the decidua of pregnancy (true decidua).

子宮の粘膜が妊娠に際し，肥大増殖して厚く柔らかく変化したもの。受精卵の着床によってこの変化が始まり，後にその一部は胎盤の構成にあずかる。分娩(ぶんべん)後に剥離(はくり)脱落するのでこの名がある。子宮粘膜は月経周期に応じても同様の変化を繰り返しており，この際の厚くなった粘膜は月経脱落膜（仮脱落膜）といい，これに対し本来の脱落膜を妊娠脱落膜（真脱落膜）と呼ぶ。
