Muḥammad Qazvini

1877‐1949
Iranian philologist. Born in Tehran, he studied in London and Berlin in 1904, and after the First World War he settled in Paris where he conducted research from the end of 1940. He made friends with European Orientalists and acquired modern research methods, and made outstanding achievements in the editing of Persian manuscripts and bibliographical research, editing Juwayni's History of the Conquerors of the World, Nizami's Chahar Maqare, and the Poetry of Hafez. イランの文献学者。テヘランに生まれ，伝統的なイスラム教育を修めたあと，1904年，ロンドン，ベルリンに遊学し，第1次世界大戦後から1940年末までパリに居を定めて研究を行った。ヨーロッパの東洋学者の知己を得て近代的な研究法を身につけ，ペルシア語写本の校訂，書誌学的研究に優れた業績をあげ，ジュワイニーの《世界征服者の歴史》，ニザーミーの《チャハール･マカーレ》や，《ハーフィズ詩集》の校訂を行った。【坂本勉】
