A diplomatic dispute between Britain and the Qing dynasty over the border between Yunnan Province and Burma that arose from the end of the 19th century to the 20th century. Britain, which had control over Burma, attempted to connect its sphere of influence along the Yangtze River from Yunnan Province through Guizhou Province and Sichuan Province, and continued to claim the Chinese territories as belonging to Burma even after the Margaree Incident in 1875, occupying some areas (the One-Horse Incident). France also advanced into Yunnan from Indochina, greatly stimulating Chinese nationalism.

19世紀末から 20世紀にかけて起きた，中国雲南省とビルマとの国境をめぐるイギリスと清朝との外交問題。ビルマを領有したイギリスは，雲南省から貴州省，四川省を経て，揚子江流域の自己の勢力圏と連絡しようとして，光緒1 (1875) 年のマーガリー事件以後も，中国側地域のビルマ帰属を主張し，一部地域を占領するなどした (片馬事件) 。フランスもインドシナから雲南へ進出し，中国人の民族意識を大いに刺激した。
