…An island in the Kitan Strait (Tomogashima Channel) between Awaji Island and the northwestern tip of Wakayama Prefecture, west of Kada in Wakayama City. It consists of Jinoshima (circumference about 5.2 km) and Okinoshima (circumference about 6.5 km), and Okinoshima is connected to the mainland by a sandbar and includes Torashima and Kamishima. The island is made of sandstone and is surrounded by sea cliffs 20 to 50 meters high.
