Japanese: 議院運営委員会 - ぎいんうんえいいいんかい（英語表記）steering committee

A standing committee in the Japanese Diet that handles the overall operation of the House. It is abbreviated as Ginun. The Ginun has a wide range of jurisdiction, including the operation of the House, the Diet Law and House regulations, consultations with the Speaker, operation of the National Diet Library, and matters related to the Judicial Impeachment Court and the Judicial Indictment Committee, and is different in nature from other committees that mainly review bills in specific fields. In reality, the Ginun serves as an assistant body to the Speaker, and is a place where the ruling and opposition parties negotiate about the operation of the Diet, such as the schedule for deliberation of bills and the proceedings of the Diet. Due to its nature, the Ginun has close ties with each party's Diet Affairs Committee (Kokutai) and is said to be a branch office of the Kokutai. In Western countries, there are no examples of standing committees being established for negotiations between the ruling and opposition parties.

日本の国会で議院の運営全般を扱う常任委員会。議運と略称される。議運の所管事項は議院の運営，国会法や議院の法規，議長の諮問，国会図書館の運営，裁判官弾劾裁判所や裁判官訴追委員会に関するものなど広範囲に及んでおり，特定の分野の法案審査をおもに行う他の委員会とは性格を異にしている。実際の議運は議長の補佐機関として，法案の審議日程や議事進行などの国会運営をめぐり与野党が折衝を行う場となっている。議運はその性格から各党の国会対策委員会 (国対) と密接な関係にあり，国対の出先機関といわれる。なお西欧諸国においては，与野党間の折衝のために常任委員会がおかれている例はみられない。
