A city in Latium, ancient Italy. It was located about 30 km south of Rome. It is now Pratica di Mare. It is said to be the place where the Trojan general Aeneas landed. It belonged to the Latin League and was its religious center, but later declined and merged with Laurentum during the Roman Empire to become Laurolavinium. Excavations have revealed the remains of the Villanova culture, as well as many altars and temples.
