〘Noun〙① A temple where nuns live. Bikuni-dera (nunnery) . It can also refer to a monastery where Christian nuns live. ※Shoki (720) Before Jomei's accession to the throne, "Only his elder brother , Kezu , fled to the nunnery's tiled building and hid there ." ② The name of Tokei- ji Temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. 〘名〙① 尼の住む寺。比丘尼寺(びくにでら)。キリスト教の修道女の住む修道院をもいうことがある。※書紀（720）舒明即位前「唯し兄子(このかみ)にあたる毛津のみ、尼寺の瓦舎(かはらや)に逃げ匿(かく)る」② 神奈川県鎌倉市の東慶寺の称。縁切寺として有名であった。※雑俳・柳多留‐五（1770）「あまでらに行って我身にして帰り」
