〘Noun〙① A temple where nuns live. Bikuni-dera (nunnery) . It can also refer to a monastery where Christian nuns live. ※Shoki (720) Before Jomei's accession to the throne, "Only his elder brother , Kezu , fled to the nunnery's tiled building and hid there ." ② The name of Tokei- ji Temple in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture. It was famous as a temple for breaking off ties. ※Zappai, Yanagi Taru-go (1770) "I went to Amadera and returned as myself."
