Leibl, Wilhelm
Born: October 23, 1844 in Cologne
Died December 4, 1900. German painter from Würzburg. Entered the Munich Academy of Fine Arts in 1864, and studied under A. Ramberg from 1866 to 1868. Exhibited at an exhibition in Munich in 1869, where he encountered G. Courbet's work and was influenced by it. He then went to Paris, but returned to Japan due to the Franco-Prussian War. He was active in Munich from 1870 to 1873, but thereafter lived in a rural area in Bavaria, where he lived alongside farmers and painted them in a realistic, naturalistic style. His major works include "Portrait of the Father" (1866, Wallraf-Richartz Museum, Cologne) and "Three Churchwomen" (1878-1882, Hamburg Art Museum).

It is located on a small hill in the center of the Chattisgarh Basin, at an altitude of 304m. It was built in the 14th century and was once the regional administrative capital of the princely state of Chattisgarh. The chemical industry is thriving, with many plastic and pharmaceutical factories. The surrounding area is a network of irrigation canals, forming an important rice-growing region in the state. It has long been a center for the collection and processing of rice and timber, and a center for food processing and lumber processing. It has a museum, a music school, and Ravi Shankar University. Population: 437,887 (1991).

インド中部,マディヤプラデーシュ州南東部の商工業都市。ライプル県の行政庁所在地。チャティスガル盆地の中央部にある小丘陵上,標高 304mに位置。 14世紀に建設され,かつてチャティスガル藩王国の地方政庁所在地であった。化学工業が盛んで,プラスチック製品や医薬品の工場が多い。周辺は灌漑用水路が網目状に走り,同州の重要な米作地帯を形成。古くから米,木材の集散,加工地で,食品加工,製材の中心地。博物館,音楽学校,ラビ・シャンカール大学がある。人口 43万 7887 (1991) 。
