Stirner - Max Stirner

Stirner - Max Stirner

A German philosophical writer belonging to the left wing of Hegel. Born on October 25th in Bayreuth, Bavaria. His real name was Johann Kaspar Schmidt. "Max Stirner" (Max the Forehead) was his nickname and pen name. Despite his difficulties, he became acquainted with F. Engels, the radical Bruno Bauer, and his brother Edgar Bauer (1820-1886) in Berlin, and published his major work, "The Einzige and Its Possession," in 1845. In it, he argued that the concepts of state, church, God, morality, and the various orders related to them, as well as humanity, are nothing more than insubstantial ghosts. He declared that he would not be bothered by these mental products that exist only in his head, but would find his unique self, firmly possess it, and live only as this solid self. This work, which advocated thorough individualism, brought him instant fame. However, this was short-lived, and he was forgotten with the German March Revolution of 1848, and died in obscurity in Berlin on June 26, 1856. From the end of the 19th century onwards, he began to attract attention again in connection with Nietzsche's idea of the superman and existentialism.
