Cable (English)

Japanese: ケーブル(英語表記)cable
Cable (English)
(1) A general term for cables, steel ropes, electric wires, etc. (2) Insulated electric wires. A collection of electric wires covered with electrical insulation, which are then coated with various sheaths to electrically and chemically insulate them from the outside world. They are broadly divided into power cables and communication cables. The former are underground power transmission cables for power transmission, and include belt cables, H cables, SL cables, and low gas pressure cables for operating voltages of 10 to 30 kV, as well as oil-filled OF cables for special high voltage (about 7 kV) and extra high voltage (100 to 500 kV). Recently, butyl rubber insulated cables have also been used. The latter are used for telecommunications within and between stations, and include overhead, underground, and undersea cables. Types include balanced cables (for intra-station, city, and inter-city use) and coaxial cables (for long distances and undersea cables), as well as optical fiber cables for optical communications, which have recently been developed and used.
