One of the underworlds and hells in Chinese Taoism and folk beliefs. It is generally called Jidu. It is also called Luodu. The theory that the dead go to Luodu first after death began to appear mainly in Taoist documents from the Two Jin dynasties, and Tao Hongjing's "Shinko" describes its geographical and bureaucratic organization in detail. These documents from the Six Dynasties state that it is located in a mythical place at the northernmost edge of the world, but from around the Northern Song dynasty, the belief that Jidu Hell was located on Mount Pingdu in Zhongzhou, Sichuan Province spread, and until recently, religious activities that mixed Taoism and folk beliefs were carried out there.
