A beautiful terrestrial orchid (illustration) with pale pink flower spikes that grow in clusters in the relatively moist flower fields of the subalpine zone. It is also called plover. The tuberous root is thickened and the tip is palmately divided. The flower stalk is 30-60 cm tall and bears 4-6 leaves from the middle and below. The leaves are broadly linear and 10-20 cm long, with the upper leaves being smaller. In July and August, it produces numerous dense pale pink flowers. The flowers are just under 1 cm in diameter. The dorsal sepals and petals are helmet-shaped. The lateral sepals open. The lip petal is shallowly divided into three lobes at the tip and has a long, thin septum about 15 mm long at the base.
