Yonabaru [town] - Yonabaru
A town in Shimajiri District, in the southern part of Okinawa Island, Okinawa Prefecture. A port town facing Nakagusuku Bay, it has long been a key transportation hub on the east coast. It is a distribution center for forestry products, agricultural products, and miscellaneous goods, and a railroad ran to Naha City before World War II. Ryukyu tiles are a specialty of the town. Area: 5.18 km2 . Population: 16,318 (2010).
