Work done at night. The word was derived from the fact that people worked while cooking midnight snacks with a hotpot. Nighttime work was diverse, including milling flour, spinning thread, weaving ramie, weaving straw bales, making sandals, and straw work such as rope making, and in fishing villages, mending nets. Nighttime work was often done during the long nights from the autumn equinox to the spring equinox, but when it was done jointly, young people's or girls' lodges were used for the work, and the location changed every night.
