Born: March 2, 1800, Tambov [Died] July 11, 1844. Born in Naples, Italy. A Russian poet. He devoted himself to writing poetry while stationed in Finland as a private in an infantry regiment. His elegiac poems, which had deep philosophical content and powerful emotional expression, were turned into songs by M. Glinka, such as Razuverenie (1821) (Disillusionment). His main works include Istina (24) (Truth), Burya (24) (Storm), and Poslednyaya smert' (Final Death) (27).
