Sasaki Mochikiyo

Japanese: 佐々木持清 - ささきもちきよ

1417‐70 (Oei 24‐Bunmei 2)
A military commander in the Muromachi period. His posthumous name was Seikan. Son of Sasaki (Kyogoku) Takamitsu. Junior Assistant Minister of the Central Ministry. Daizen-no-taifu. In December 1441 (Kakitsu 1), he succeeded his uncle Kyogoku Takakazu, who died fighting in the Kakitsu Incident, as Shugo of the three provinces of Izumo, Oki, and Hida. He served as head of the Samurai Department twice, from 1441 to 1447 (Bun'an 4) and from 1449 (Houtoku 1) to 1466 (Bunsho 1). During the Onin War, he joined the Eastern Army, and in 1469 he was appointed Shugo of Omi by the shogunate (Eastern Army). [Shimosaka no Kami]

室町時代の武将。法号生観。佐々木(京極)高光の子。中務少輔。大膳大夫。1441年(嘉吉1)12月，嘉吉の変で闘って死んだ叔父京極高数の跡をうけて，出雲，隠岐，飛驒3ヵ国の守護となった。1441年から47年(文安4)，および49年(宝徳1)から66年(文正1)までの2度にわたって侍所頭人を務めた。応仁の乱では東軍につき，69年には，幕府(東軍)より近江守護に補任された。【下坂守】
