Sahara Atlas

...The country's land area is vast, about six times that of Japan, but the southern region, which accounts for about 85% of the land area, is desert, and the population and economic activity are concentrated in the northern region. In the northern region, there are two mountain ranges that run east-west along the Mediterranean Sea, the Tell Atlas and the Sahara Atlas, and in the southern region, the Ahaggar (Hoggar) Mountains. The Mediterranean coastal region has a typical Mediterranean climate with rain in the winter and dry summer, with an annual rainfall of over 600 mm, but as you go south across the mountains, the amount of rainfall decreases and the climate changes to a continental climate with a large temperature range.
