Yoshitsune Koshigoe Letter

Japanese:
Yoshitsune Koshigoe Letter
Ningyo joruri. Historical piece. Three acts. Commonly known as "Goto Sanbaso" or "Koshigoe-jo". Written by Namiki Eisuke, the owner of Senshu Manor, and according to one theory. Originally it had five acts, but the shogunate banned the fourth act, Tsuruoka, in which a female attendant takes aim at Yoritomo, who is likened to Ieyasu, with a gun, so it was limited to three acts. It premiered at the Toyotakeza Theater in Osaka in July 1754 (4th year of the Horeki era). The basis for this work was Namiki Munesuke's "Nanban Tetsu Goto Nomenuki" (February 1735, Toyotakeza), which was adapted into "Yoshitsune Shinpukumi-jo" (March 1744, Edo Hizenza), which was further adapted into this work.
