A highway is a main road that aims to make driving itself a recreational activity and serves as a park for drivers. For this reason, it is planned in areas with good scenery, has grade separations with other roads, and structurally limits the free entry and exit of vehicles from the roadside, allowing for fast and comfortable driving. The first such parkway was the Bronx River Parkway, built in New York State in the 1920s, and its success led to the construction of parkways in various places.
