Yogo [town] - Yogo

Japanese: 余呉[町] - よご

A former town in Ika District, Shiga Prefecture. It occupies the northern tip of the prefecture, bordering Fukui Prefecture to the north and Gifu Prefecture to the east. Rice is the main agricultural crop, but the town also produces ferns and bracken. Mount Shizugatake and Lake Yogo are located at the southern end of the town. The Hokuriku Main Line runs through the southern part of the town, and the Hokkoku Kaido (National Route 365) runs north and south through the town along the Yogo River. In January 2010, the town was incorporated into Nagahama City along with Torahime Town, Kohoku Town, Takatsuki Town, Kinomoto Town, and Nishiasai Town in Higashiasai District. Area: 167.62 ^km2 . Population: 3,931 (2005).

滋賀県伊香(いか)郡の旧町。県の北端を占め，北は福井県，東は岐阜県と接する。農業は米作を主とするが，ゼンマイ，ワラビなども産する。町の南端に賤ヶ岳(しずがたけ)，余呉湖がある。南部を北陸本線が通じ，北国街道（国道365号線）が余呉川沿いに町域を南北に縦貫する。2010年１月東浅井郡虎姫町，湖北町，伊香郡高月町，木之本町，西浅井町と長浜市へ編入。167.62km²。3931人（2005）。
