1564‐1624 A Muslim theologian from Sirhind, Punjab, eastern India. He was educated by his father as a child, but later moved to the capital, Agra, where he became acquainted with Abul Fazl and his brother, Abul Faiz Faizi. He later joined the Naqshbandi order, which is said to place great importance on tradition among Sufis. He was ideologically opposed to the Shiite ideology favored at the court of Emperor Jahangir.
