Deposit currency - Yokintsuuka

A highly liquid deposit held in a bank that can be withdrawn at any time and serves as a means of payment. The name was given to it because certificates of deposit, which are self-addressed debt certificates issued by private banks, function as a form of payment despite being a deposit, and thus function as currency. It is the counterpart to cash currency, and increases mainly through credit creation by banks. Demand deposits such as current accounts and ordinary savings accounts fall into this category, and serve as a means of payment and a means of storing general real purchasing power, functioning in the same way as cash currency. Large transactions between companies are handled by transfers between bank deposit accounts via the exchange of checks, and are used in this case. Credit card payments for households are also made in the same way.

銀行に預けられている流動性の高い預金であり、いつでも引き出すことができ、支払手段として役だつもの。民間銀行が発行する自己宛(あ)て債務証書である預金証書が、預金でありながら支払手段として利用されることから、通貨としての機能が発揮されるためこの名称がつけられた。現金通貨と対をなし、主として銀行の信用創造によって増加する。当座預金や普通預金などの要求払い預金がこれに該当し、支払手段や一般的即時購買力の保蔵手段の役割を果たしており、現金通貨と同じ働きをする。企業間の大口取引は小切手の受渡しによる銀行の預金口座間の振替によって処理され、この場合に使われる。家計のクレジットカードの決済も、同様に行われている。
