Night Attack Soga Hunting Grounds Akebono - Yochisogariba no Akebono

Japanese: 夜討曾我狩場曙 - ようちそがかりばのあけぼの

Kabuki kyogen. Historical piece. 5 acts. Commonly known as "Yauchi Soga" and "Shikikawa no Goro". Written by Kawatake Mokuami. First performed at the Shintomiza Theater in Tokyo in June 1881. The cast included Ichikawa Danjūrō IX as Kudō Suketsune and Soga Goro, Onoe Kikugoro V as Kio Shinzaemon, Nakamura Sojūrō as Soga Jūrō and Yoritomo, Ichikawa Sadanji I as Danzaburō, Nakamura Shikan IV as Wada Yoshimori, Ichikawa Kodanji V as Goromaru, and Iwai Hanshiro VIII as Kisegawa no Kamegiku. Based on "The Tale of Soga" and other works, this is a retelling of the earlier 1874 work by the same author, "Chochidori Soga no Jitsuden."

歌舞伎狂言。時代物。5幕。通称《夜討曾我》《敷皮の五郎》。河竹黙阿弥作。1881年6月東京新富座初演。配役は工藤祐経･曾我五郎を9世市川団十郎，鬼王新左衛門を5世尾上菊五郎，曾我十郎･頼朝を中村宗十郎，団三郎を初世市川左団次，和田義盛を4世中村芝翫，五郎丸を5世市川小団次，喜瀬川の亀菊を8世岩井半四郎など。《曾我物語》その他の作に拠り，これより前の1874年同作者の《蝶千鳥曾我実伝（ちようちどりそがのじつでん）》を改作したもの。
