Gallo-Roman art - Gallo-Roman art

Japanese:
Gallo-Roman art - Gallo-Roman art
This refers to the art of Romanized Gaul during the Gallo-Roman period. The Romans only secured the important cities and main roads of Gaul, while the traditions of the Celtic La Tène culture remained strong in other areas. As a result, art in the cities showed a strong Roman color, but in the general area, Celtic traditions remained to a greater or lesser extent. Therefore, apart from the pure Roman art brought by the Romans, in general, stone sculpture (such as the items excavated at Roquepertuse and Entremont) and bronze sculpture (such as the items excavated at Neuvy-en-Sullias) often expresses a powerful spirituality with a mysterious shadow through bold mass and rhythmic expression that is not bound by naturalism.
