A homogeneous mixture in a liquid state. When it is in a solid state, it is called a solid solution [Nagakura et al.: 1998]. Generally, it is a liquid component (solvent) in which a smaller amount of solid, liquid, or gaseous component is dissolved as a solute [Katayama et al.: 1970], but it is also considered to be a general term for all or some of solid solutions, melts or liquid solutions, and gaseous solutions [Gordon: 1971].
