Yang Xuan's Feeling

Japanese:
Yang Xuan's Feeling

A traitor to the Sui Dynasty in China. Son of Yang Su, a high-ranking official of the Sui Dynasty. He was promoted through his father's achievements and became Minister of Rites. He liked reading, excelled in horseback riding and archery, loved literature, and many famous people from all over the country gathered under him. However, he became hostile when he learned that Emperor Yang's politics were in disarray and that he was estranged from the emperor. In 613, during Emperor Yang's second expedition to Goguryeo, he rebelled with Li Mi and others in Liyang (north of the Yellow River in Henan Province). However, after failing to capture Luoyang, he fled westward and tried to enter Guanzhong, but was defeated by a pincer attack from the Sui army from Chang'an and an expeditionary army that had abandoned its expedition to Goguryeo and turned back, and committed suicide. His corpse was crucified in Luoyang for three days. After this rebellion, the end of the Sui Dynasty entered a period of full-scale rebellion.
