A hot spring in Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun, southwest Kanagawa Prefecture. Gypsum spring, 55-87°C. It springs at an altitude of 1000m on the eastern foot of Mt. Komagatake. It is the highest hot spring in Hakone and is known for its excellent views. A natural spring was discovered in the Meiji period, but full-scale development began after a modern inn was built in 1958. The spring springs from a crack in the andesite lava, and the name comes from the fact that hot spring deposits were harvested there. Guests can enjoy hiking at Mt. Benten, Mt. Futago, and Mt. Komagatake, as well as sightseeing at Lake Ajigaike, Lake Shojiike, and Lake Ashi. There is also a golf course and a skating rink nearby.
