A brown alga in the family Phanerocarpus. It is flat and membranous, with a well-developed midrib and is divided into broad, pinnate, linear leaflets. It is chestnut brown in color, but turns bluish when dead. The alga grows to a height of 60-100 cm. It grows on rocks near the low tide line. It is distributed worldwide. 褐藻類ケヤリモ目ウルシグサ科の海藻。扁平膜質で中肋が発達し,羽状に広い線状の小葉に分れている。色は栗色であるが,死ぬと青みのある色に変る。藻体は高さ 60~100cmになる。低潮線付近の岩上に着生する。全世界的に分布する。
