Around 1075-1141 A medieval Spanish Jewish poet. He was also a famous philosopher and physician who was respected by the upper classes in Granada and Toledo. In his later years, he traveled to the Holy Land of Palestine to settle and realize his beliefs, but died in Egypt. He left behind about 800 Hebrew poems. In order to defend Judaism against anti-Semitism, arguing that Judaism is superior to Greek philosophy, Christianity, and Islam, he spent 20 years writing the Book of Al-Kuzari in Arabic, which was also translated into Hebrew and had a great influence as a Jewish classic.
