Around 1075-1141
A medieval Spanish Jewish poet. He was also a famous philosopher and physician who was respected by the upper classes in Granada and Toledo. In his later years, he traveled to the Holy Land of Palestine to settle and realize his beliefs, but died in Egypt. He left behind about 800 Hebrew poems. In order to defend Judaism against anti-Semitism, arguing that Judaism is superior to Greek philosophy, Christianity, and Islam, he spent 20 years writing the Book of Al-Kuzari in Arabic, which was also translated into Hebrew and had a great influence as a Jewish classic.

中世スペインのユダヤ教徒の詩人。グラナダとトレドの上流社会の尊敬を集めた著名な哲学者，医者でもあった。信念を実現するため，晩年，定住するために聖地パレスティナへ向かったが，エジプトで客死した。約800編のヘブライ語の詩を残した。ユダヤ教がギリシア哲学，キリスト教，イスラムのいずれにも勝るという，反ユダヤ主義に対する弁明をするため，20年かけて《クザーリの書》をアラビア語で著作したが，これはヘブライ語にも翻訳され，ユダヤ教の古典として大きな影響を与えた。
