Price mechanism - Kakakukiko

The market mechanism is fundamentally different from the command economy mechanism described above in that this adjustment is not achieved by the knowledge and judgment of one or a small number of omniscient individuals, but by the combined efforts of a very large number of trading entities (those participating in the market) who have only limited information. Because this adjustment is achieved through a kind of signal called "price," the market mechanism is also called the price mechanism, and the two terms are often used almost synonymously.
[Historical meaning]
The phenomenon that if more goods are produced, their prices fall, and if there is a labor shortage, wages, the price of labor, begin to rise, is a common observation across time and place, as long as economic transactions are conducted through the mechanism of the market.
