Yujuku [Hot Spring] - Yujuku

Japanese: 湯宿[温泉] - ゆじゅく

This hot spring is located in Niiharu Village, Tone County, northwestern Gunma Prefecture. It contains sekkobo saltwater, and is 42°C. It is part of the Mikuni Onsen hot spring resort along the Mikuni Kaido (National Route 17) on the banks of the Akaya River. Legend has it that the hot springs were discovered in the mid-9th century, but they have also been a hot spring resort along the Mikuni Kaido since ancient times. Since the Shimizu Tunnel was completed in 1931 and the Joetsu Line was fully opened, the hot springs have become popular with visitors from the Tokyo metropolitan area who are resting there. Nearby are the birthplace and gravestone of Shiobara Tasuke, as well as Tainei-ji Temple, known as a sacred place for fire prevention, and Mt. Omine behind it is a great place for hiking.

群馬県北西部，利根郡新治（にいはる）村にある温泉。含セッコウボウ硝泉，42℃。赤谷（あかや）川河畔，三国街道(国道17号線)沿いの三国温泉郷に含まれる。9世紀半ばに開湯したとの伝説が伝わるが，古くから三国街道の宿湯でもあった。1931年清水トンネルが完成し，上越線が全通してから首都圏からの静養客の利用が多くなった。付近には塩原多助の生家や墓碑，火防の霊場として知られる泰寧寺があり，背後の大峰山はハイキングの適地。
