A canal built in the early 19th century 96 km northeast of Paris to take in the waters of the Ourcq River and supply water to Paris, whose population was rapidly increasing. In 1830, 60% of Paris' water demand was met by this canal. In the 17th century, Colbert approved the plan for the Ourcq Canal by engineer Paul Riquet, which already included plans for navigation on the canal, washing facilities for Paris' streets and sewers, and the construction of new water springs. Plans were drawn up again in 1787, and the National Constitutional Assembly decided to carry out the construction in 1790, but it was not until 1802 that Napoleon had the work started.

パリの北東96kmの地点でウルク川の水を取り入れ，人口が急増するパリに給水すべく，19世紀初頭に建設された運河。1830年にパリの使用水量の60％が，この運河の水でまかなわれた。17世紀にコルベールは，技師ポール･リケのウルク運河計画を認可したが，この計画には，運河航行，パリの街路と下水道の洗浄施設，給水泉の新設などがすでに予定されていた。その後も1787年に計画が立てられ，90年の憲法制定国民会議は工事の実施を決定したが，1802年になってナポレオンが工事に着手させた。
