Prince Ichinobe Oshiha

Japanese: 市辺押羽皇子 - いちのべのおしはのみこ

Oshiha is also written as Oshiha. He was the eldest son of Emperor Richu. His mother was Kurohime, the daughter of Ashida no Sukune (the son of Katsuragi Osutsuhiko). According to the pre-accession chronicle of the Nihon Shoki, he married Haehime, the daughter of Ariomi (the son of Ashida no Sukune), and gave birth to Oke no O (Emperor Ninken), Oke no O (Emperor Kenso), and Princess Iitoyo (Iitoyo no Ao no Mistress). The pre-accession chronicle states that "Ichibe no Miya governed the world" (Ichibe is the name of Yamabe County in Yamato Province), and there is also a theory that he ascended to the throne because he is described as "Emperor Ichibe no Mikoto" in the Harima no Kuni Fudoki, but this is probably a posthumous tradition in honor of the prince who was a descendant of Emperor Richu, Emperor Kenso, and Emperor Ninken.

おしはは忍歯とも記す。履中天皇の長子。母は葦田宿禰(葛城襲津彦の子)の女の黒媛。《日本書紀》顕宗即位前紀によれば，蟻臣(葦田宿禰の子)の女の荑（はえ）媛をめとって億計（おけ）王(仁賢天皇)，弘計（おけ）王(顕宗天皇)，飯豊女王(飯豊青皇女)らを生んだという。同即位前紀には〈市辺宮に天下治（しら）しし天万国万押磐尊〉とあり(市辺は大和国山辺郡の地名)，また《播磨国風土記》にも〈市辺天皇命〉と表現することから即位したとみる説もあるが，履中天皇と顕宗･仁賢両天皇をつなぐ血脈の皇子を尊んでの追贈的な伝承であろう。
