1592‐1643
The second emperor of the Qing Dynasty in China. Reigned 1626-43. Posthumous name Taizong. Eighth son of Taizu (Nurhaci). A highly acclaimed military commander, he distinguished himself under Taizu in the Battle of Sarhu, and was one of the four great Beiles who handled national affairs. Immediately after ascending to the throne, he began reforming the Eight Banner system and worked to strengthen the emperor's dictatorial power. After completing these reforms, he became emperor again in 1636, named the country Da Qing, and changed the era name to Sutoku. After ascending to the throne, he pursued peace talks with the Ming Dynasty, with Shanhaiguan as the border, and in 1627, he chased King Injo of Korea to Ganghwa Island, subjugated him, and concluded a peace treaty with Korea.

中国，清朝の第2代皇帝。在位1626‐43年。廟号は太宗。太祖(ヌルハチ)の第8子。太祖の下でサルフの戦に抜群の功を立てるなど武将の誉れが高く，国政を処理する四大ベイレ(貝勒)の一人であった。即位後ただちに八旗制度の改革に着手し，皇帝の独裁権力の強化に努めた。この改革の完成したのち，1636年改めて皇帝の位につき，国号を大清と称し，改元して崇徳とした。対外面では，即位後，明とひとまず山海関を境界として和議をすすめ，かたや朝鮮に対しては，1627年朝鮮王仁祖を江華島に追い，これを屈服させて和議を結んだ。
