A story from the Muromachi period. Author unknown. Vol. 1. An old couple living in Isonokami, Yamato Province, receive a prophecy in a dream that they will have a child. A beautiful melon transforms into a "shining princess" and when she grows up, her wedding to the country's deputy guardian is arranged, but Amanosagume kidnaps the princess, ties her up to a tree, and disguises herself as the princess. As the wedding procession passes under the tree, a beautiful singing voice is heard singing, "Amanosagu is riding in the handcart that should take her to meet her fiancé," revealing the true identity of the false princess. The princess is rescued, and Amanosagume is torn apart and abandoned in Udanobe, Yamato Province.

室町時代の物語。作者未詳。1巻。大和国石上（いそのかみ）に住む老夫婦が子を授かる夢告をうける。美しい瓜が〈光るほどの姫君〉に変じ，長じて国の守護代との婚儀がととのうが，〈あまのさぐめ〉が姫を誘拐，木の上に縛り上げ，自分が姫になりすます。婚礼の行列が木の下を通ると，〈ふるちごを迎へとるべき手車にあまのさぐこそ乗りて行きけれ〉という美しい歌声が聞こえ，にせの姫の正体を明かす。姫君は助けられ，あまのさぐめは引き裂かれ大和国宇陀野辺に捨てられる。
