Yamada [Hot Spring] - Yamada

Japanese: 山田[温泉] - やまだ

This hot spring is located in Takayama Village, Kamitakai County, in northern Nagano Prefecture. It is a pure saline spring with a temperature of 58°C. It springs up on a terrace overlooking the Matsukawa valley at the western foot of Mt. Shirane. It is said to have been discovered in 1319 (Gen'o 1), and has long been used by people engaged in forest work in the area. The hot spring water is drawn from the banks of the Matsukawa River, and there are public baths such as Takinoyu and Konpirayu. Matsukawa's Kaminari Falls is nearby, and it is also close to Yamada Ranch, so in winter it is a popular base for ski tours to Shiga Kogen and Manza. There is a bus service from Nagano Electric Railway Suzaka Station.

長野県北部，上高井郡高山村にある温泉。純食塩泉，58℃。白根山の西麓，松川の渓谷にのぞむ段丘上にわく。1319年(元応1)の発見と伝えられ，古くから付近の山仕事に携わる人々に利用されてきた。湯は松川河岸にわくものを引湯し，滝ノ湯，金毘羅湯などの共同浴場がある。付近に松川の雷滝があり，山田牧場にも近く，冬季は志賀高原や万座方面へのスキーツアーの基地としてもにぎわう。長野電鉄須坂駅からバスが通じている。
