Tsuneemon Murano

A politician of the Meiji and Taisho periods. Born as the eldest son of No Tatsuzo and Kano, a wealthy farmer from Nozuta Village, Tama County, Musashi Province (Machida City, Tokyo). In 1881, he founded the Yukansha Society with Ishizaka Masatsugu and others, and played a part in the movement to establish a national parliament. In 1885, he was implicated in the Osaka Incident, sentenced to one year in light imprisonment and 10 months of supervision, and imprisoned in Wakayama Prison. In the 6th general election in 1906, he was elected to the House of Representatives from Tokyo Prefecture, and was elected eight times thereafter. A member of the Constitutional Party and the Rikken Seiyukai Party, he served as Secretary General and General Affairs, while also working hard to build the Odakyu Electric Railway, and in 1922, he was appointed by imperial decree to the House of Peers. <References> Irokawa Daikichi and Murano Renichi, "Murano Tsuneemon Den," 2 volumes

明治大正期の政治家。武蔵国多摩郡野津田村(東京都町田市)の豪農村野辰蔵,カノの長男として生まれる。明治14(1881)年石坂昌孝らと融貫社を設立,国会開設運動の一翼を担った。18年大阪事件に連座,軽禁固1年,監視10カ月に処せられ,和歌山監獄に入獄。31年第6回総選挙で東京府から衆院議員に当選,以後当選8回。憲政党,立憲政友会に属し,幹事長,総務を歴任する一方,小田急電鉄敷設に尽力し,大正11(1922)年には貴族院議員に勅選された。<参考文献>色川大吉・村野廉一『村野常右衛門伝』全2巻
