This is a late Yayoi period site located in Yamaki, Izunokuni City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is the remains of a Toro-type rice paddy field built in the back marsh of the Hora River basin, a tributary of the Kano River. Since its discovery by Kinoshita Tadashi in 1950, seven excavations by Goto Morikazu and Yahata Ichiro have revealed the existence of a ridge and waterway over 100 meters in length, as well as T-shaped and hook-shaped bends in the ridge. In addition to Yayoi pottery (Yamaki-style pottery) and stone tools, various agricultural tools, daily utensils, and building materials have also been discovered. 239 of the artifacts excavated from the site are designated as Important Tangible Folk Cultural Properties by the government as "Yamaki Site Production and Daily Life Tools" and are stored and exhibited at the Nirayama Local History Museum. It is located at the same time period as the Toro ruins and is an important ruin that gives a good indication of the state of rice fields in the eastern Tokai region during the Yayoi period, but the settlement areas have not yet been revealed and a comprehensive investigation is expected.
