Yoshito Harada

Japanese: 原田淑人 - はらだよしと

Born: April 5, 1885 in Tokyo
[Died] December 23, 1974. Tokyo Oriental archaeologist. He served as professor at the University of Tokyo and inspector at the Imperial Museum. He was one of the pioneers of Oriental archaeology in Japan, and conducted several surveys on the continent, providing a great deal of important material. His works, including "Clothing in the Tang Dynasty of China" (1934) and "Clothing in the Six Dynasties of the Han Dynasty" (37), as well as reports on "Le Lang," "Maoyangcheng," and "Tokyo Castle," are the foundations of Oriental archaeology, and his contributions to archaeology are immense.

東洋考古学者。東京大学教授，帝室博物館鑑査官を兼務した。日本における東洋考古学の開拓者の一人であり，何回か大陸における調査を実施し，重要な資料を数多く提供した。その著『支那唐代の服飾』 (1934) をはじめ，『漢六朝の服飾』 (37) などのほか，『楽浪』『牧羊城』『東京城』などの報告書は東洋考古学の基礎となるもので，考古学に果した功績はきわめて大きいものがある。
