Japanese: ヤマカモジグサ - やまかもじぐさ

A perennial grass of the grass family found on the forest floor of mountains and wilderness areas. The stems grow in large numbers and form clumps, with the slanted lower part curving at the nodes while the upper part rises, reaching a height of 40-70cm. The leaves are linear lanceolate at the nodes of the stem, sparsely hairy on both sides, 10-20cm long and 5-10mm wide, and usually twist in the middle so that the underside faces up, forming the underside of the leaf. The inflorescences are produced in June and July. The inflorescences are sparsely borne on a central axis with around 10 spikelets, which have very short stalks, but as the stalks are not prominent they appear to be single spikelets.
