A flagellate organism in the family Dinoflagellate, family Brachyura. Also known as a horned banded worm. It is known to be found in freshwater, brackish water, and marine organisms. It lives a planktonic lifestyle. Each cell is surrounded by a dozen or so shell segments, each of which has a mesh pattern. There is one horn at the apex and three protruding downward. Often, the three lower horns are curved and point upward. In addition, the grooves formed by the shell segments contain flagella, which allow the organism to swim.

鞭毛生物，渦鞭毛藻目ムシモ科。ツノオビムシともいう。淡水産，汽水産，海産のものが知られている。浮遊生活をする。各細胞は十数枚の殻片に囲まれ，各片には網目模様がみられる。頂に1本，下方に3本の角を突出する。しばしば下方の3本が湾曲して上方に向うものもある。また殻片のつくる溝には鞭毛があり，その運動で遊泳する。
