Yanagida [village] - Yanagida

Japanese: 柳田[村] - やなぎだ

A village in Fugeshi County in northern Ishikawa Prefecture. Population 4,776 (1995). Located in the middle of the Oku-Noto Hills, it is the only inland village on the Noto Peninsula. Most of the village area is forest, with farmland and settlements along the main and tributaries of the Machino River. Charcoal production was popular before World War II, but after the war rice cultivation, chestnut and shiitake mushroom cultivation, and beef cattle raising have taken place. Many people migrate to the Keihin and Hanshin areas to work. Aenokoto, an event to welcome the rice field god into the home, is a nationally designated Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property. There are Yanagida Onsen and Kurokawa Onsen.

石川県北部，鳳至（ふげし）郡の村。人口4776(1995)。奥能登丘陵中部に位置する能登半島唯一の内陸村である。村域の大部分が山林で，町野川の本･支流沿いに耕地と集落がある。第2次大戦前は木炭の生産が盛んであったが，戦後は米作，栗やシイタケの栽培，肉牛飼育が行われている。京浜･阪神方面への出稼ぎも多い。田の神を家に迎える行事として行われる〈アエノコト〉は国指定の重要無形民俗文化財。柳田温泉，黒川温泉がある。
