Ushiku

A district in central Ichihara City, Chiba Prefecture. Formerly Ushiku Town. Located in the middle reaches of the Yoro River, it is the commercial center of the rural areas of the Yoro River basin, and the Kominato Railroad and National Route 297 connect it to Katsuura City in the Sotobo region. It is also a key transportation hub, with National Route 409 connecting it to Mobara and Kisarazu. The flat land is covered with rice paddies, and the plateau is a golf course. At the top of Mt. Tachibana is Tachibana Zenji Temple, which contains two Kongo Rikishi statues (created in 1263) and other items.

千葉県市原市中部の一地区。旧牛久町。養老(ようろう)川中流に位置し、養老川流域の農村地域の商業中心地であり、小湊(こみなと)鉄道と国道297号が外房(そとぼう)の勝浦市と連絡する。また、国道409号が茂原(もばら)と木更津(きさらづ)へ通じる交通の要地でもある。平地は水田、台地上はゴルフ場となっている。橘(たちばな)山の山頂に金剛力士像2体（1263年の作）などのある橘禅寺(きつぜんじ)がある。
