Station River

A river that flows through northern Oita Prefecture. The Era, Hijiu, Fukami, Tsubusa, Sada, Yamazo and other rivers that collect water from the eastern part of the Yabakei lava plateau and flow north join together in the Innai and Ajimu basins to become the Yakata River, which flows out into the Usa Plain and empties into the Suo-Nada Sea. It has a length of 42 kilometers and a drainage area of ​​345 square kilometers. The old and new Yabakei-style landscapes, such as Nishishiiyanotaki and Takkiri Valley on the Era River, Fukinonotaki and Sennoiwa on the Fukami River, and Higashishiiyanotaki on the Tsubusa River, have been created, and they irrigate about 1,800 hectares of rice paddies in the middle and lower basins and plains. There is also a small power station on the Tsubusa River. The Yakidate River Comprehensive Development Project, which focuses on agricultural irrigation, has been carried out by the national government since 1964, and Hijibu Dam was completed on the Hijibu River and Hisashi Dam on the Sada River in 1970.

大分県北部を流れる川。耶馬渓(やばけい)溶岩台地東部の水を集めて北流する恵良(えら)・日出生(ひじう)・深見(ふかみ)・津房(つぶさ)・佐田(さだ)・山蔵(やまぞう)などの諸川が院内(いんない)・安心院(あじむ)両盆地で合流して駅館川となり、宇佐平野に出て周防灘(すおうなだ)に注ぐ。延長42キロメートル、流域面積345平方キロメートル。恵良川に西椎屋(にししいや)ノ滝・岳切(たっきり)渓谷、深見川に福貴野(ふきの)ノ滝・仙ノ岩(せんのいわ)、津房川に東椎屋ノ滝などの新旧両耶馬渓式風景がつくられ、中・下流諸盆地・平野の水田約1800ヘクタールを灌漑(かんがい)している。津房川には小発電所もある。農業水利を中心とする駅館川総合開発事業が1964年（昭和39）から国営で進められ、日出生ダムが日出生川に、日指(ひさし)ダムが佐田川に1970年完工した。
