Iranian historian. He served under Subkhtigin, Mahmud, and Mas'ud of the Ghaznid dynasty. In 999 he received diplomatic orders from Georgia and was later appointed postmaster of the Kanji-Rustaq station. His main Arabic work, Kitāb al-Yamīnī, is a history of the Mahmud period and was translated into Persian in 1205/6.
