An ancient Korean-style mountain castle located in the northern ridge of Yashima, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. It is a nationally designated historic site. An article from 667 in the "Nihon Shoki" mentions the construction of Yashima Castle in Yamada County, Sanuki Province, and it was built for domestic defense after the defeat in the Battle of Baekgang in 663. Until the Middle Ages, Yashima was an island surrounded by steep cliffs, and at an altitude of about 100m, there is a stone rampart measuring 45m in length, 15m wide at the base and 12m high on the outside and 2m high on the inside, as well as traces believed to be the remains of a water gate. → Takayasu Castle Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
