Paints that are designed to form a coating when applied to an object and heated. The Japanese Industrial Standards stipulate that the heating temperature must be 100°C or higher, while the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) and British Standards (BS) stipulate that the heating temperature must be higher than forced drying (66°C or higher). Baking paints generally maintain their coating properties for a long time because the main cross-linking reaction (the chemical bonding reaction between resin polymers that is necessary for the coating to achieve the desired performance) is completed at the baking temperature, and the reaction is thought to no longer proceed below that temperature (for example, room temperature).
