Pomak

...A good example would be the Bosnians who converted to Islam but spoke Serbian. It is generally said that the Ottoman Empire did not force people to convert to Islam, but there were Albanians, Greeks, and Bulgarians (who lived in the mountainous region of southern Bulgaria and were called Pomaks) who became Islamists, and there were Turks (Gagauz) who fled to the Dobruja region after being persecuted by the Sultan and converted to Christianity. Also, among the nomadic peoples of Macedonia, there are some who, like the Romanians, are said to be of Latin descent but whose mother tongue is Greek.
