Yibin - Gibin

A prefecture-level city in southern Sichuan Province, China. It has jurisdiction over two city districts and eight counties (as of 2016). It has a population of 5.543 million (2014). It is located at the confluence of the Jinsha River and the Min River, and the downstream is called the Yangtze River (Yangtze River). It has long been a key transportation and military location in the southwestern Sichuan Basin, and a distribution center for forest products, medicinal herbs, and agricultural products from the surrounding areas. Today, it remains a transportation hub for water transport on the Yangtze River and the Min River, and for railways and automobiles to Yunnan Province. When the Chengdu-Guiyang High-Speed ​​Railway (Chengdu-Guiyang), which is scheduled to open in 2019, is completed, Yibin East Station, which the railway will pass through, will be the largest station in southern Sichuan Province. Yibin Saiba Airport is located about 8 kilometers northwest of the city center, but a new, larger airport is currently under construction (scheduled to open in 2018).

There are also some of China's largest paper mills, as well as machinery and brewing industries. Sturgeon are farmed in the Yangtze River. Wuliangye, a Chinese liquor, is a local specialty.

中国、四川(しせん)省南部の地級市。2市轄区、8県を管轄する（2016年時点）。人口554万3000（2014）。金沙江(きんさこう)と岷江(びんこう)の合流点にあり、ここから下流を長江(ちょうこう)（揚子江(ようすこう)）とよぶ。古くから四川盆地南西部の交通と軍事の要地で、雲南(うんなん)省の林産物や薬草、周辺地域の農産物の集散地であった。今日も揚子江や岷江の水運、雲南省方面への鉄道・自動車などの交通の中心地である。2019年全線開通予定の成貴高速鉄道（成都(せいと)―貴陽(きよう)）が完成すると、同鉄道が通る宜賓東駅は四川省南部最大の駅となる。市中心部の北西約8キロメートルには宜賓菜壩(さいは)空港があるが、より規模の大きな新空港を建設中である（2018年開港予定）。

　中国でも有数の製紙工場をはじめ、機械、醸造などの工業もみられる。なお、チョウザメの養殖が揚子江で行われている。中国酒の五粮液(ウーリャンイエ)は特産である。
