Japanese: モニミア（英語表記）Monimia

Genus name of a plant of the Monimiaceae family found around the Mauritius Islands in the southwestern Indian Ocean. Four species have been reported as shrubs. The Monimiaceae family, to which Monimia belongs, is a woody family consisting of about 40 genera and 450 species, belonging to the Magnoliales order, and is closely related to the Lauraceae family. The leaves are usually opposite and serrated, and the plant is often dioecious. The flower bed is more or less depressed, and contains many stamens and pistils, but sometimes the number of pistils is reduced to one. The anthers are longitudinally dehiscent or open-valve. There is one ovule. The wood is very similar to that of the Lauraceae family, and is used as a building material.

南西インド洋モーリシャス諸島周辺に分布するモニミア科の植物の属名。低木で，4種が報告されている。　モニミアの所属するモニミア科は約40属450種からなる木本性の科で，モクレン目に属し，クスノキ科と密接な類縁関係をもつ。通常，葉は対生で鋸歯があり，雌雄異株のことが多い。花床は多少ともへこみ，そこに多数のおしべとめしべがつくが，時にはめしべが1個にまで減数する。葯は縦裂開または弁開。胚珠は1個。材はクスノキ科に酷似し，建築材として利用される。
